1. Open Finder
2. In menubar select Go > Go to Folder…
3. Type /Library/Application Support/ and hit the enter key
4. Locate and delete the AVGAntivirus folder
5. Reboot the computer and try the reinstallation.

The machine is running MacOS Big Sur 11.5.1
When attempting to install AVG Antivirus Free for a MacBook, it shows that I have an older version already installed, yet I cannot find a trace of it anywhere. I found some information in an old forum post that says that I will need to be sent the uninstaller package in order to wipe it from my system.
Please help me get rid of the old version so that I can reinstall.

For better clarity, could you please share the screenshot of the AVG installation error message? Also, please let us know the version of the Mac operating system running on your PC.

Thank you for your timely respinse, Unfortunately, this did not work as there is no AVGAntivirus folder on the computer anywhere that i can tell
