I have (had) AVG Free on Windows 7 Pro on a Dell Precision M2800. Within the past 3-4 weeks I did an update on AVG and my PC became unstable. I did get some strange file error on AVG update. So I tried to uninstall, got the menu to try to repair. So I did. Immediately started getting BSoD. Eventually my disk became unbootable. So I ordered a new drive (same as factory), installed Windows 7 from thumb, installed graphics, sound, network, and touchpad drivers. NOTHING ELSE. No MS Office, no extra programs, NOTHING. Installed AVG Free, another strange error with some file during install, had to "repair" again. PC became unusable. Boot took forever, sound didn't work, Edge browser took forever just to open, forget browsing. 50%+ CPU usage on AVG exe files. It took forever to uninstall but I did, back to what it was before AVG install. Anyone have similar experience? Any ideas as to why this is happening? I've used AVG Free for years on other PC's without problem. It's only been recently, and on Windows 7 Pro. I have another laptop with Windows 10, no issues.

Since I posted this, I've decided I don't want to take the risk of another serious issue on this PC. After removing AVG and downloading another antivirus, another browser, and some other programs, my PC is running quickly and without issue. I'll continue to run AVG on my Windows 10 machine unless I have more problems.
