Mostly this error is due to the previously installed AVG program or anyother Antivirus program installed on your system.
Is there any other Antivirus program or AVG program installed on your system? If so, please uninstall it and try to install AVG Program.

Hello, sorry for the late reply as am travelling.
Have tried the above: downloaded the FREE version and have chosen the Basic installation, the protection installation runs and ends with a red alert not protected and a window prompts to trust AVG as the dafault anitivirus program to monitor instead of windows defender. Have clicked to trust AVG and the protection for AVG Zen continues to install and update; however the FREE version changes to PRO version. Now am seeing AVG Internet Security all protected and AVG Zen protected under PRO version instead of the FREE version. I only need the FREE version with the basic needs.

Having the above error: AVG Windows ZEN Error code: 0xC0070643 Description- Event exec_finished when upgrading/downloading the latest version of AVG ZEN free version with installation failed.
Tried the AVG remover tool and the BFEfix tool umpteen times with restarting and shutting down but to no avail.
Running on Windows 8, 64bit system.
Seems like many users are experiencing this error; appreciate to revert on the workaround steps to have installation successful. Have been using AVG for several years, this is the first time am encountering an error which hours on online support and forums does not help to fix.

Please run AVG remover tool and then install AVG Antivirus free Zen in your pc.
To run AVG remover tool follow the below steps :
Please click on the below link to download remover tool

Accept the license agreement and then choose AVG Product and remove it.
NOTE: Once the AVG Remover Tool has done with its process. Please go to the drive where you installed this tool and look for a folder named as "AVG Remover" and I request you to delete it manually.

There is no other antivirus program and have already removed all older versions of AVG programs. Tried uninstall and reinstall manually; have also tried the AVG remover tool and the BFEfix tool 2-3times too to no avail.

Please be informed that the 30 days trial version of the AVG Internet security program might got installed on your PC. Once after the expiry of the trial version the program will automatically get downgraded to the Free version.

We would request you to run AVG remover tool to completely remove AVG and then re install it.
Please click this link http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe to download and "Run" the AVG Remover tool.
1. Please select the AVG products which are shown in the remover tool window and then start removal process.
2. After the remover tool process is successfully finished, restart your computer.
3. After the restart, manually delete the AVG Remover folder in the C drive of My computer.
To reinstall AVG free without AVG zen please click on the link http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/AVG_Antivirus_Free_692.exe .
