What on earth has happened to the good ols trustworthy AVG ? So what to do now?

Hello Marko,

Thank you for confirming this. Please do not worry, the senior team will contact you very soon and assist you further in fixing this issue. If you face any difficulties, you can always contact us.

Thank you. I sent the report just now…

Update: Last Friday I let the "Tier 3 Tech" control my PC and once again, he had the same issues I was having. He had to escalate my issue to the "development team" and Im still waiting on them to contact me. Hopefully theyll figure it out so I can get AVG fully installed and working properly again…

Its been almost 3 weeks now and I still havent been contacted… Any update?

Since I have basically the same problem as J (except I get the message that Free AVG 2015 is still installed and therefore AVG cannot switch to active mode) I would urge you to reconsider the "there is no old remover link" and just provide one. Because in general the logic is quite simple. There is a program x inmterfering with the installation so if there once was a remover for program x (which was the case) using this would be the best solution to remove said program. However nobody seem to have archived those on the net but I highly doubt AVG couldn't provide those again.

What a joke this support is. After a 5 weeks of waiting and trying to get this fixed you message me and tell me "its my computer". WRONG. Its your program. My computer is fine. Youre just giving up because you dont know what to do, so youre putting the blame on me instead of taking responsibility. Its clear AVG is the issue. Its the only program Im having issues with once this new update came out. If you knew what you were doing this issue would have been fixed weeks ago. How is there not an old 2012 uninstaller you can email me? Ive Googled looking for one before I contacted yall and all the links are dead. Horrible support…

Yeah I know. I was just posting an update…

After spending 2 hours letting the tech control my PC he was having all the same issues as me and had to to escalate my issue to a "tier 3 tech"…

Ok thanks. I was starting to think they forgot about me…

Im trying to install the newest version of AVG Free, but it keeps getting stuck at 97%. When it fails, I open AVG and it says its in passive mode because AVG 2012 is still on my PC. I tried to do the repair, and it does nothing. Ive used IOBit Uninstaller. Ive run the AVG_Removal tool until it stops auto popping up after restart. Ive used AVG_Clear numerous times and have even went through the registry, program files, program data, temp data etc and removed EVERYTHING that said AVG, (literally hundreds of registry items) and the same thing keeps happening. Ive even done the AVG Reset Access and nothing works. It does the same thing every time. Ive done this 10+ times now even a few times in safe mode. Ive even tried looking for the old removal tool from 2012, but all the links are dead. Someone please help! My other computer updated to the new version just fine on its own…

^ It "should", but doesnt. I did this and used AVG Clear etc 10+ times and let 3 of their "senior techs" do it 6 total times and it didnt work once (each tech tried it twice). I still cant install the newest AVG. But its "my fault". I even went through the registry and deleted HUNDREDS of instances of AVG and STILL have this issue…

I opened a ticket myself and I am waiting to receive reply from the senior techs. However I noticed that - at least on my system - the problem seems to be the file wsc_proxy.exe. No matter if I try to install or uninstall AVG - the installation is hanging the moment this file is running according to task manager and the installation continues the moment I've killed this process … however with such broken installation AVG stays again in passive mode.

Thank you. I sent the report just now…

Dizzle,
Thank you for sending us with the log files. I will escalate the case to our concern team. They will get back to you through Email. Your patience is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Ive already done all that. As I said in my original post…

I dont see why I should need to let the install fail AGAIN to show you a picture of what I already typed out. Then spend an hour+ removing everything AGAIN. Ive done this 10+ times, and every time I try to install it, it gets stuck at 97%. Then when I open AVG, it tells me AVG 2012 is still on my PC. Ive run the removal tool NUMEROUS times. Ive run AVG Clear NUMEROUS times. Ive done this in both regular AND safe mode. Ive went through and removed EVERY folder and file AVG left behind. Ive removed the Visual Studio installs that AVG left behind. Ive went through the registry and deleted EVERY instance of AVG. But, when I try to install it, it gets stuck at 97% and says AVG 2012 is still installed, which isnt even the last version of AVG I had. So Idk how its just now causing issues. Im not trying to be rude, but when you ask for help and tell someone what you ALREADY tried, and their reply is to try it again and show a picture this time, its pretty frustrating, and a waste of time…
