I am not sure what version i was running but it was definitely not the 2017 version. tried the tool anyways and it says to make sure that i use right version and to try the remover tool that did not work

Sorry to know that you have issues in uninstalling AVG.
Have you installed 2017 version of AVG in your computer?
If so, please try run AVG clear tool through this link https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe
Open tool
· User Account control - click "Yes"
· Windows safe mode - click "No"
· Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
· Click "Uninstall"
· Click "Restart computer"

Tried uninstalling avg from control panel yet it doesn't show. so I used the uninstaller tool to try and remove, reboot my system and avg is still running like a virus that just wont go away. any ideas to manually remove avg?
