AVG won't update

I'm running the free version of AVG on Windows 10.  I've tried the repair option to try and fix AVG, but nothing works.
When I click the update button, it tells me it's already up to date.

I can uninstall and re-install to get the latest version, but I'm getting a bit sick of having to do this every time there's a new release as it still doesn't fix the problem. I've also tried the AVG remove tool, but it didn't even find AVG to remove in the first place.
I've been a long time user of AVG, but if this issue isn't fixed (and I can see I'm not the only one from my google searching of this issue) I'm afraid I'll have to look elsewhere for my anti-virus needs.
