Hello Paul,
I understand how difficult this is for you. Please let me know the version of AVG AntiVirus free installed on your computer and also send us the screenshot http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot of the AVG folder that shows 18GB dats. We will check the same and assist you further.
Okay. I've got your program uninstalled and I ran the clean program to remove it.
2 questions:
1. Has this HD space hording problem been solved? Can I confidently reinstall the fresh program without worrying about losing gigabytes of space to your virus definitions because they're adding onto each other instead of overwriting the older definitions?
2. Is this space hording and issue with your Amdroid app as well?
Thank you for the detailed information. Please use this link https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe to download and run AVG Clear tool. This will remove all the traces of AVG from your computer.
NOTE: When you are prompted to restart in safe mode, please click on "NO" and continue to uninstall AVG in normal mode.
After you uninstall AVG, please try to remove all the AVG related folders from your computer and do a clean installation of AVG AntiVirus free from this link: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free.

The virus definitions folder in AVG Zen is taking up over 18GB of space.
C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\Antivirus\defs
I have tried to uninstall the AVG AntiVirus FREE program and just get a message that I don't have enough disk space for AVG to be installed. (Error code: 0xe001f96d). Sure enough, I'm down under 5MB of space left.
I've gone to the Virus Definitions folder and tried to manually remove theextra definitions, but I'm informed I don't have permission and I need Administrator permission. I've received the same message logged in AS THE ADMINISTRATOR!
I had liked your product before, but this is beyond the pale. How do you let something like this make it out to your users? I've seen many complaints about the same problem as I have. We need a fix or you're going to be losing a lot of customers very soon.
Thank you for the information, Paul.
I have forwarded the case to senior team for getting a confirmed answer with the queries raised recently.
Keep checking the post to know the status.
Your patience is much appreciated.
