AVG Zen will not install

Hello Maria,
We apologize for the inconvenience.
This error indicates that some configuration file is missing, in this case I suggest you run the AVG removal tool again and remove all the old traces of AVG. Once everything is removed, please download and install the AVG free version from this link. http://www.avg.com/us-en/avg-antivirus-free
Please let us know if you are able to install the free version after this steps.
Thank you.

Noticed a few days ago that my AVG hadn't updated in a while. Tried to update it manually and it failed but gave no indication why. Tried to download an reinstall and realized that the product I had no longer exists and has been replaced by AVG Zen. Tried to download and install that and it failed. Attempted the Express Installation service and was informed, AFTER I HAD PAID, that support is not offered for free products. Still waiting on my refund from that. Found an article on here about having to completely remove all previous AVG products prior to installing the new ones, so I did that, then used the actual AVG remover tool to make sure I hadn't missed anything. Searched my computer and deleted any file that referenced AVG in any way, and then with a clean slate went to try to download and install Zen again. Still won't install. This is what it gives me:
Description: General error (0xd012)
Error code: 0xE001D012
What does that mean and what do I do about it?
