Hi All, I have been trying to resolve my issue of Windows Mail not working while running AVG ZEN (build 1.171.3.211). I investigated the firewall settings to no avail, nothing I entered or allowed to bypass the firewall would work.
I can see there have been multiple issues with AVG and Windows Mail so hopefully this will solve someone else's issue. You need to change your 'Network Profile' from 'Public' to 'Private'...that's it, for some reason adding firewall rules for Windows Mail doesn't work under 'Public'.

How to change your 'Network Profile':
- Open AVG
- Click 'Internet Security'
- Click the 'Menu' drop down and select 'Settings'
- Click the 'Components' tab
- Click the 'Customize' link for 'Firewall'
- Click the 'Network Profiles' tab
- Change 'Network Connection' Profile to Private
- Click 'OK' to all (two) AVG windows
- Close AVG windows
- Windows Mail should now work. (A PC restart may be required to update settings)
