When I try to run AVG GUI, I get a message: Program is blocked by Group Policy. But I have done nothing on the computer to chane anything. I tried to uninstall. That fails also. Tried removing MalAwareBytes (per Formum note). No change. I went into Safe Mode. I can run AVG using the commoan line exe. Over 400 files come up locaked; no infections however. I thien tried to unistall in safe mode and get error that the "install" scirpt had an error. So my idea to uninstall and reinstall dowsn't work either.
Well, finally, not sure how, I was able to uninstall AVG and clean everything up. THen installed a fresh copy. Now it seems to load, but the identity protect and running a scan fails right at the beginning.
So now I uninstalled again. Loaded a copy of Kaspersky. RAn the virus scan. Nothing was found.
So… clearly something is wrong.
IIs there something pertaining to AVG2015 that I can do?
Or should I go back and restore the entire computer from a backup?
