We are having the same problem over on this thread:
Tray Icon and Program Won't Open Normally | AVG
This is a new problem. I and the original poster there have XP and SP3 for years and never a problem until very recently. We're getting the same 0xc007001d error.
The latest version of AVG Free says it's compatible with XP. As you can see in the other thread, I also tried an older version of AVG Free and got the same error message trying to install that.
Sorry to post in both threads, but I wanted to show you guys that this seems to be a new problem coming up for several of us.
Hello Terry,
We apologize to hear that you are receiving an error message when you try to install AVG. Please note that it could be possible that your old XP PC does not meet the minimum system requirements to install AVG. To clarify this, could you please provide us with the exact error code you are receiving when you try to install?
Also please let us know which processor are you using on your PC.

Original question:
I had AVG2015 Free on my desktop PC with Windows XP and it was working great. I was then sent an upgrade to AVG2016/ZEN Free and it downloaded but would not install. It also made my 2015 inoperable as well as uninstalled it. How do I get the new one to install without getting error: 0xc7001d and other similar error numbers? My PC is very old but to date runs great. Can't afford a new one, so if I can't get ZEN to install, and system restore won't work either, I tried, anyone know another free anti-virus that I can install. I tried Avast and the Windows version, but nothing.......
