Hi,
Yes I tried the power drain and pretty much everything I knew (BIOS entry, previous configuration etc) but nothing works. I do not have a CD because frankly I haven't had the need for a CD in years, I use USBs for pretty much everything including my windows set up.
Any other possible suggestion?
Thanks.
M
Hi everyone,
This morning when I turned my laptop on it got stuck during startup. After checking several things: safe mode w/ and w/o networking (didn't work), booting from usb (AVG recovery didn't work), running memory test (no issues), booting last known good configuration (didn't work) I found out that when windows were loading files they got stuck at avgbidsha.sys
The AVG recovery from USB didn't work and nothing on the safe mode menu seems to be moving forward. The laptop has Win7 on and it was working fine last night. Can anyone suggest any solutions that may get me past the starting up? Once I am in I believe I know how to solve the issue. Older posts by others didn't really solve the issue.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
Mara
Hello M,
We will work together to sort this out.
Instead of USB stick, try using AVG Rescue CD and see if you are able to boot into your laptop.
You can also try performing power drain by pressing and holding the power button on your laptop for 10 - 15 seconds, check if you are able to boot up.
Hi M T,
Were you able to find a work around?
I ran into the same issue on my Windows 7 laptop. I installed AVG, restarted my laptop and ran into same issue.

Varun
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Earlier you told us that you have only tried Last Know Good Configuration that is the reason why we suggested to do system restore.
System restore is totally different from Last Know Good Configuration, if your PC have restore points available we can restore your PC to the earlier period.
You can perform system restore by pressing F8 repeatedly and then click on Repair your computer and then select system restore.
If that didn't work, then go to safe mode with command prompt and type rstrui.exe in command prompt and select the available restore points to perform system restore.
Once your PC is up and running please contact us again to help you in resolving the issue.

Varun, please try to boot your PC in safe mode, uninstall AVG and boot back in normal mode. Now re install AVG and verify the issue.
MT, we don't have any other options to run the rescue CD.
We request you to contact the local technician or the system manufacturer to recover your PC and then contact us back once it is up and running to assist further.
Oh I see. Well I downloaded the rescue to a usb from the website but I guess I shouldn't be surprised if that one is also not maintaned. No wonder it didn't work then.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. This is not the expected behavior from our program.
Have you tried doing system restore? If not please try system restore and check if you could boot your PC up.
If the issue still persists please let us know to proceed further.

Look I appreciate the canned responses and all that but as I have mentioned in the beginning I did try to reboot to an earlier good version and that wasn't possible. If I eventually manage to get in my laptop with the help of any outside technician be sure that this program will be the first one to be removed from my laptop!
thanks!
M, Please note that the AVG Rescue CD is now no longer maintained e.g. updated by AVG.
