The drive IS defragged
I downloaded the lastest virus definition for AVG and did a whole computer scan. Reboot
avgrsa.exe does a LOT of disk IO (nnn,nnn Total Bytes/Second in Perfmon Disk) when you open up an aplication (chrome, thunderbird, etc) but the disk queue lenth never gets longer than 5-10 and only for a brief period.

In order to analyze it please provide us with diagnostic output (run it after inducing described behavior) using this tool and please add detailed description of issue.
