Hi Dinesh,
I am currently using AVG Free Antivirus. It has seems to have gone down in its usage, though it is taking up just oer a GB of memory. There have been inoppurtune times though that it has taken up all remaining CPU resourses, bogging down the computer.
Normally this is tolerable, but as I have to work from home for a bit, this has become no longer.
Thanks for your help,
A
Hi Avinash,
Seems that today is much better. Perhaps you guys can look into the updating sw and find out what could cause this issue and fix it. There is no point in having an update tool if it doesn't work properly.
Thanks for your help. If I have any other issues, I'll be sure to post them.
Thanks again.

P.S. I've noticed that when I am typing this message that there is no scroll bar in this editbox and I cannot use two finger scrolling to see text that has scrolled off the editbox. You might want to report that to the forum maintainers. It is very annoying. Cheers.
Yesterday i reinstalled AVG because I had the same symptoms.
Today, after running the whole night it happens again.
AVG, What lind of service is this. When i break it, AVG crashes.

We appreciate your efforts, Adam.
We are glad that the program is working fine after the reinstallation.
Please observe the CPU usage and contact us again if you face any issues.
We will certainly consider this as a feedback and forward this to concerned team.
We will also make a note of the Forum interface.
Thank you.

AVGSvc.exe is taking almost all of my CPU. I say almost all, because I can type, but if I try streaming from YouTube or try and work over my work's VPN, I get these horrible bouts of slowness which is just not torribile. Every time I find it slow I find that process is the culprit. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough. I had to talk to my manager as he was wondering why I'm not being as productive working from home.
Tell me what I need to do to get this fixed, or I'll just have to go to another antivirus.
Thanks,
A
No, I did a repair. I don't have any other AV running on my machine.
What consumption are you referring to Dinesh?
Adam, please uninstall AVG AntiVirus free, restart your PC and reinstall it and verify the CPU usage.

Hi Adam,
We're glad to look into this & help you.
As this isn't the usual behavior of AVG, we can try reinstalling the AVG program.
However, upon checking your account, we're unable to find any subscriptions. Please let us know if you're using AVG Free Antivirus.
If you've purchased an AVG subscription, provide the account info by replying to the email that has been sent to you. Reason being, privacy concerns.
Also, share us the screenshot of the task manager that shows the CPU consumption of AVGsvc.exe process.

Thank you for the screenshot, Adam.
Did you reinstall the AVG program after this issue?
If not, reinstall the program and check for the issue again.
We also request you to uninstall any conflicting AntiVirus in your computer.
Keep us posted.
Appreciate your efforts in sharing us the screenshot, Adam.
Would you be so kind to provide the screesnhot of in-built task manager (windows feature) that shows the consumption as well?
