Hello Bob,
Please be informed that it is a legit connection to update servers and the reason is that AVG checks for updates automatically.
Thank you.
64 bit AVG Free AntiVirus 2016.0.7294 installed on 64 bit Windows 7
At user login AVG processes start, a DNS lookup is performed and the "avgsvca.exe" process launches, connects to an AVG IP address, and remains connected.
Per netstat:
TCP 192.168.1.101:49156 193.85.216.232:http ESTABLISHED 1996
[ PID 1996 is avgsvca.exe ]
The connection is never released, even after updates are applied, until the computer is rebooted.
It appears that the update engine is not able to complete, or hangs and never releases, or there's another issue with the AVG service agent.
Is this a known bug or issue - and are there any known resolutions?
Shouldn't the process disconnect after checking, rather than stay connected to the server for the entire time the computer is online?
