Hello Hubert,
I understand the inconvenience but couldn't get the concern regarding "stealing the focus".
Do you mean that while playing a game, AVG is showing some popups that interrupts your game play?
Hubert,
Thank you for waiting patiently.
To analyze the issue further, I need to submit your concern to our senior technicians along with other diagnostic logs. I have sent you an email with steps on how to collect and upload the data required for analyzing your issue. Please check your inbox and spam/junk folder as well.
It's September 2018 and I still see the problem.
It seems to me that, when in silent mode, avgui.exe is attempting to produce a pop-up, takes focus, realizes that avg is in silent mode, and then just releases focus instead of returning it to the window that originally had focus.
I suspect the "solution" would be for avgui.exe not to take focus at all if in silent mode.
I'm having this same problem, and it's messing up my gaming.
A screen shot is not relevant, since all it will show is my desktop. As the OP already explained, there are nothing from AVG showing.
When you're in a game, full screen, it will suddently jump to the desktop, so you can't see the game. That's what's meant by stealing focus. I also tracked down, that it is AVG that is responsible for this.
It's also a problem in all other applications, if for example you're typing somewhere, and AVG steals the focus, you have to click on your application again, for it to register what you're typing.

For the last couple of months, I have been having an issue with a piece of software stealing focus from whatever I am doing, but nothing appearing in the taskbar or being selected on screen. This is particularly egregious when I am playing a full screen game and suddenly the focus is not on the game. Using some software to monitor the focus, I found that avgui.exe is the program that is stealing the focus. I have AVG in Silent Mode, but it is still doing this. I am running Win7 64-bit and AVG version 17.8.3036.
Please fix this issue ASAP or I will be forced to find another antivirus solution, as this situation is unacceptable.
Hubert,
Could you provide us with a screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) of the avgui.exe issue to assist you better? Please also let us know which version of AVG program are you using.

I already replied to the previous support e-mail with this, but, yes, it is still occurring.
I am running version 18.1.3044

Here is the output from the focus tracking:
the cmd.exe is where I launched the focus tracking program:
3704:C:\Windows\SysWOW64\cmd.exe | Tue Nov 28 10:42:20 2017
3200:D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Warframe\Warframe.x64.exe | Tue Nov 28 10:42:22 2017
3204:C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\Antivirus\AVGUI.exe | Tue Nov 28 12:06:33 2017
Note, I did NOT switch to AVGUI.exe - this grabbed the focus right in the middle of a pitched battle and almost got me killed.
I already added this as a response, but it did not actually save for some reason. Also, I provided the version in my original post: AVG version 17.8.3036. I have no idea what I could possibly send you a screenshot of. As I havce said multiple times, the focus gets stolen by avgui.exe. No window comes up, no popup, no specific visual except that the program I was using is no longer the focus. The only way I was able to narrow it down to avgui.exe was to use a program to track focus changes.
