Same problem here - same setup & troubles as described above. I really appreciate that AVG supplies us with a free version of their virus scanner - but avguix stealing the focus every few minutes is a pain in the a* and a death criteria against using it. Can't have a chat or write a few lines without having to use your mouse to focus the right window again.
Exactly the same issue for me too, and started with an update on the 30th March. Hopefully AVG will fix with an update soon. Searching through the support pages, this issue has occurred before.
Build Number: 1.171.3.211
AVG Free Version: 17.3.3443.0
AVG Framework 1.182.2.64574
AVG Setup 1.182.2.64574
I have been having the issue as well. Only since the most recent update which required a reboot.
It minimizes my games, which sucks most; but, also is a pain when typing things, and just using my computer.
I disabled various components within AVG (after I figured out that was what was causing it), and it appears Resident Shield is the culprit, as I can leave all other components running, and all is well, but as soon as I turn back on Resident Shield, it starts up again.
I did find a couple apps which could mask the issue (though I have not tried them yet), if you just want to wait until the next AVG fix…

For me, I'll just turn off Resident Shield while gaming. Good luck.
Damien, I don't know if this will help, but I got the "Corrupted file: avguix.exe" warning on every cold boot after a major update that did not include simply av/malware definitions- it supposedly upgraded several features. Win 7 64 bit Home Pro showed a fix as running "chkdsk". I was skeptical, but ran it on next cold boot. It took about 7 minutes, 3 satges. It repaired files with numbers like 159654 ( the most prominent one) and 229225, 258205. Once done, the Dell XPS 8100 rebooted and it has been fine. I have another issue, on a 2 year license activated 3-17-17 the PC Protection interface tells me I have 18 days left on my subscription. A response in this community from AVG claims I have to join AVG Zen, I thought that was optional. It is unsettling to have these issues on a new product; I have used retail versions of McAfee, Kaspersky, Norton and not had these problems. Good luck, CBE
I'm having this problem now. If it doesn't get fixed, I'll have to switch to another AV, since it ruings my gaming, and is also annoying in general, when using other applications.
Came here to report the same issue. Just started a couple days ago for me.
Windows 7, x64 bit.
I'm using "Window Focus Logger" to prove what's doing it (minimizes my games), and it's "avguix".
This needs to be fixed IMMEDIATELY, or I will have to consider AVG to be bloatware, or even Malware straight up and uninstall it.
I've zipped up the files asked above and sent them via e-mail to Petr Blatny. Since it's a larger file it should share with you via a Google Drive link. If that doesn't work for you, please let me know a better alternative. Thanks!
Problem still persisting for me. Has anyone else found a solution yet. After two weeks of constant interruptions to work activity I am now having to look for new AV software.

Peter, In future please refrain from carrying out multiple postings on the same subject! You won't obtain an answer to your query any faster!. Also please try to keep the whole conversation in one question/thread to speed up any resolution.

I persevered this morning. I ran 'repair' on both AVG and AVG Protection (via control panel/programs/change) and both repairs went through without asking for a reboot but avguix.exe continued to interrupt every 10 minutes. But then I rebooted the machine and all has been well since then.
Recently, I've been having issues with a (previously) unknown program stealing Window's focus every 8 to 15 minutes or so. I first noticed this while watching videos on Youtube, where the taskbar would pop up every now and then. At first, I dismissed it, it wasn't really a bother since I have my taskbar set to auto hide; however, today I discovered that the focus stealing happens at any time, not just videos where it was more noticeable. While playing a video game, the running game will minimize, throwing me back to the desktop without any sort of pop-up or taskbar message.
Not having a clue what was causing this, I ran Windows Focus Logger (found here) while I played a game. After getting kicked back to the desktop, I checked the logger and it showed that avguix was the cause of the stolen focus. (screenshot)
I've tried turning AVG off and uninstalling/reinstalling it, but the problem still persists. As mentioned before, it occurs at all times. Even now, as I type this, it occasionally steals focus which disrupts my typing, annoyingly enough. This problem did not occur before the last update, and I really would like help fixing it or else I will have to switch to a different antivirus.
I'm running the Free edition of AVG and my OS is Windows 10.

I have the files all zipped, but they are still 23MB, so cannot send via email - do you have another way to send?

Thank you,

Thank you for logs. It shown up that the issue is connected to CEF - Chromium Embedded Framework, renderer for HTML based UI in our apps.
Engineering team is analyzing the issue right now.
I forgot I even posted this question, but I have long since solved my issue. The problem stemmed from a previous version of avg that had not been overwritten with the newest update. That old version was even in a different directory, so running the uninstaller would just remove the newest version and then the computer would insist that avg was no longer installed despite the fact that this old version was still around. The solution was simple. After manually deleting the old version, the problem stopped.
Any news on when to expect a fix?
I keep getting reminded every 10 minutes to check back here to look!
In fact it did automatically update while I wasn't looking. The stealing focus problem has gone, now instead there is frequently a six second delay opening files on a remote server using WinSCP. If I can pin down exactly what is going on I'll raise a new question.
Hello, could be possible to send me logs to analyze the issue? We have tried to induce it, but all works fine for us.
What we need:
"%LOCALAPPDATA%\Avg"
"%LOCALAPPDATA%\AvgSetupLog"
"%SystemRoot%\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Avg"
x64:
"%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Avg"
Pack them and send it to: petr.blatny@avg.com
Thank you very much
Same here, on Windows 7 SP1, since AVG free updated itself to Vn 17.3.3011, focus shifts from current window, entering text etc. is lost…

Tracked the issue down to being with AVG too and it's not the first time this has happened either.
