We regret to hear about the inconvenience caused. avgwdsvca.exe is a legitimate AVG service and the name of the service is AVG Watchdog service. This process is essential for AVG to work fine. In general, the performance depends on many factors (OS type and version, HW configuration, other running applications, virus scan in progress etc.), however, the fact that there are more background process does not necessarily mean the overall performance will be lower.
Please try to run repair installation of your AVG once as described below:
Go to Start -> Control Panel.
Note: Click Settings first if Control Panel is not available in the Start menu.
Open (Programs) -> Programs and Features, or Add or Remove Programs.
Select AVG Protection in the list of programs.
Click the Change or Change/Remove button.
Select Repair.
Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.
Restart your computer.
