Awful Interface and settings?

Dylan,
We understand how difficult this is for you, we apologize. Due to recent update with our AVG programs, we made this changes and sorry to inform you that it is not possible to install your AVG programs without AVG Zen interface for free and unlimited programs.

It helps the user to view or manage all other devices. We made this changes recently and gathering recommendations from our valuable customers like you. We will definitely let our developers about this.

If you have a specific experience with AVG products that you would like to share with us, we would appreciate hearing about it ( http://avgclick.me/AVGfeedback ).

Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.

Dylan, I agree with you completely.

AVG used to be a great program and I used to be a reseller. Then it got bought by Avast Software and became a pile of crap. Like you I've had it delete files without me being given any say in the matter, and even worse, they haven't been listed in quarantine so that I either restore them or add them to exclusions.

Despite the fact that I specifically installed only the free version, it somehow upgraded it to a trial version of Internet Security without asking me if I wanted it. And the constant pop-ups are a complete pain in the arse.

When anybody complains here about anything, they trot out their nauseating, standard "We understand how difficult this is for you" which is patently untrue because despite the fact that hundreds of people make similar complaints, they do absolutely nothing to rectify any of them.

AVG now has such an arrogant attitude towards their users that they think they know how we want to organise our data better than we know. Their attitude has become akin to 'the customer is always wrong'. Some day, they might learn that they only win arguments against ex-users.

These days, far from being a reseller, I wouldn't recommend AVG to my worst enemy. On second thoughts, I might, if I wanted to irritate the Hell out of them.

This is a three point question coming from someone who made the mistake of uninstalling AVG 2016 (without zen) and updating to AVG 2017 (forced zen.)

Is there any way to change the interface back to the "classic" version I've enjoyed since AVG 2015/2016?

Secondly, there appears to be no way to force AVG to ignore a particular file or folder when it detects a false positive. Even though I finally located the exceptions area in the new interface (pain in the butt) and added the files and folders, AVG still detects them as viruses and shoves them into quarantine anyway. How can I make AVG stop doing this?

Lastly, I have seen first hand that unlike previous incarnations of this program, when it does detect something it believes to be a virus, it immediately throws it into quarantine. AVG 2015 / 2016 gave you the option in settings of automatically deleting / quarantining files or a pop-up would appear and let the use decide whether to ignore it and add an exception or quarantine it. That option appears to be gone entirely. In fact as I stated before, AVG will ALWAYS automatically quarantine even if you add and exception. In settings there isn't even an option for the Resident Shield to "Ask the user."

Why were these settings changed / removed? Why is Zen before shoved down our throats when the majority of us do not need, want, or use it? Why are all of these changes being made against our will and we the consumer given no choice in the matter as to how we want to adjust our protection or interface?

I've sworn by and recommended AVG for the last seven years or so. This newest rendition is finally pushing my family and I away to other products.

Hello Peter,

I can understand how difficult this is for you. We have already escalated this case regarding the frequent pop-up to our developers. They are working on a permanent fix for this issue. Once the fix is released, it will fix the issues related to AVG pop-up.
