Backup and Restore Settings

Windows 7 SP1 x64
AVG AntiVirus Free 21.11.3215 (build 21.11 .6809.0)

This newer version partially resolved this problem.  However, the two following items were either not saved when I selected "BACK UP SETTINGS" in version 21.8.3202 or else when I select "RESTORE SETTINGS" in this version
21.11.3215:  Exceptions and (under geek:area) "Scan SLL connections".

Note that I could not get a response in version 21.10.3213 when I tried to select "BACK UP SETTINGS".

I save my settings via [Menu > Settings > Troubleshooting] and selecting the BACK UP SETTINGS button.  After updating AVG Antivirus Free, I attempt to restore my settings from the same location by selecting the RESTORE SETTINGS button.  What is the purpose of having this featire if my settings – expecially exceptions and "What to do" actions – are not restored?

Updated AVG Free from version 22.2 .3223 to version 22.6.3242.  First, I saved my settings via [Settings > Troubleshooting > Back Up Settings], using my old version.  Then, I removed my existing AVG Free and installed AVG Free from a "offline" full installer downloaded from [https://www.avg.com/download-thank-you.php?product=FREEGSR-OFFLINE].  Finally, I restored my settings via [Settings > Troubleshooting > Restore Settings], using the newly installed version.

Again, none of my previously setup exceptions were restored.  Two other setup items were also not restored:
*  Under E-Mail Shield, the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th checkboxes were checked.  I had unchecked them in my prior version.
*  Under AVG Geek, the SSL checkbox was checked.  I had unchecked it in my prior version because SSL checking interferes with SSL/TSL connections to NNTP newsgroup servers.

I do not know whether the problem was in the prior version of AVG Free not saving those settings or in the new version of AVG Free not restoring those settings.

By the way, this is not a new problem.  I have seen this in a sequence of updates.

AVG Antivirus Free 22.7.3245

I just installed this version today, replacing version  22.6.7355.  First, using that older version, I saved my settings.  With my Internet connection disabled, I then removed that older version and installed the newer version.  Finally, I restored my settings from the saved file.

ALL of my old settings indeed appeared in the newer version!  That proved two things.  (1) Version 22.6.7355 succeeded in saving all of my settings.  (2) Version 22.7.3245 succeeded in restoring all of my settings.

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (x64)

Using AVG AntiVirus Free 21.8.3202, I backed up my settings, creating a new .avgconfig file.  After running avgclear.exe, I then installed AVG Antivirus Free 21.9.3209 and tried restoring my settings from that new .avgconfig file.  Many of my settings were NOT restored.

Among the settings not restored were:
*  All of my exceptions
*  Under "What to do", the actions
*  Under "File Shield", file-types to be inspected
*  Under "E-mail Shield", check boxes 2, 3, and 5
*  Under "Scans"/"Deep", disabling following links
*  Under "Ransomeware", mode

Your recent reply (21 November) contains a link to a quite different problem.  Your reply (14 November) to my original post in THIS issue provides no solution to THIS issue.
