"Windows" can see the WD Drive, "WD Drive Utilities" can see the drive, but when I run "WD Backup" it does not see the WD Drive at all as a "backup target". When I search for this issue on WD site, it says this happens when an anti-virus program blocks it. So that led me to AVG.
I tried both of the solutions you proposed, neither one works.
I have Western Digital drives for backup, but the WD Backup software cannot see my drives. AVG is preventing WD Backup from installing and operating, so somehow I have to tell AVG to allow it to install and run. How do I do this? Thanks!
Which component? Computer? Hacker? Privacy? Other?

Tom, all AVG components will be disabled by the way I suggested. You could also try disabling each component. Open AVG Internet Security, click on Menu -> Settings -> Components. Then toggle the On/Off slider against each component to disable them.
Thank you for trying it out.
I would request you to disable AVG protection temporarily and check if the issue is resolved to verify if AVG is causing it. Right click on AVG system tray icon, toggle the On/Off slider to disable or enable AVG protection.
Ahhh … NVM. I found the slider, turned AVG off, WD Backup still cannot locate the WD drive that is attached to my computer. So, they are wrong, it is not AVG blocking it. Thanks for your help!
You are welcome, Tom and I appreciate your efforts.
