Please check the sensitivity of Adblock & change it according to you prefrence (either Essential or Balanced).
Tip : Setting it to strick might cause pages to not load properly.
If it is already configured properly, then you may need to try resetting the browser once to check if it helps (Open browser - Menu - Settings - Advanced - Scroll to the bottom of the screen again and click Restore settings to their original defaults, then select Reset settings to confirm).

The basic ad blocker is no longer working. Any reasons for this please?

No - would not consider such a radical step.
There's no need for a screen shot. Pages I regularly access are now completely full of Ads and the Privacy Guard is showing no pages total blocked
