You are most welcome, JM.

We appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.

Good to hear that the file works without disable WebShield.

Next version of AVG for Mac will have a user friendly options to add exceptions. We are here if you need any further assistance.

JM, Did you resolve your issue with AVG Mac?.

No, Your recommendation to add URL to whitelist is not working as I'm using the free Antivirus version.

I found the information below on the eID website Q&A (https://eid.belgium.be).
I don't understand what it is about but this rings perhaps a bel to you.
Could be the cause of the issue.

Could my virus scanner prevent eID authentication?
Yes, it could. Whenever you use your eID for authentication on a government website, the mutual SSL international standard is used. This creates a secure connection between your browser and the government's (FAS) authentication server.
Mutual SSL is resistant to man-in-the-middle attack. In attacks of this nature, an attacker hides between the sender and receiver of your internet traffic. This allows cyber criminals to intercept and modify data. Mutual SSL provides assurance of authentic data.
Many virus scanners offer functionality that scans secure internet connections (HTTPS traffic), and in many cases, these virus scanners use man-in-the-middle strategies to position themselves between your browser and the website. In view of the fact that SSL is resistant to man-in-the-middle, the virus scanner will detect an attack, cutting off the authentication. Virus scanners can, however, take this into account, and allow the user to specify certain URLs that are not to be scanned.
Consult a specialist who can assist you in modifying the configuration of your virus scanner to prevent problems from occurring.

Hello, Marc.
You can refer to steps provided in the following support article https://support.apple.com/kb/ph25287?locale=en_US to set permissions for a folder on Mac. We'd also like to inform you that AVG is free for Mac devices and there is no paid version.

Hi, I was indeed still waiting for a solution.
I modified above mentioned file. Be careful that file & folder are protected so you first need to unlock them.
Added *.belgium.be<TAB>https to the list, saved the file, restart Mac and now it's working without need to disable WebShield.
Thanks for the resolution.

Since last upgrade Belgium eID not working when AVG Antivirus is activated.
Identification to Authorities is unsuccessful.
After de-activation, identification is working again.

  1. I'm a beginner in mac. It seems that I cannot unlock Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/config/com.avg.proxy.excl. What should I do? I don't get permission to edit? Should I unlock the full tree?
    2) I downloaded gain the free version of AVG for Mac but it seems that I cannot use my eID card yet. I expected that this issue was solved by now?
    3) So is AVG forcing us to buy a full license if we want tu use our own eID card?
