Billing me by my PayPal in US dollars necessitating a conversion?

I rang the phone number and through this I got a complete refund of the Anti Tracker of $52. 54c. At first the lady said she'd give me a part refund then changed her mind for some reason. She went away from phone a couple of times so don't know if she was consulting someone. I thought later that this was right, I should get a complete refund as there was a link in my Account to receive one that I had clicked three times but nohting happening. This meant I was entitled to a refund. With the conversion it equated to about $70 odd dollars, as I forget the sum now without looking. I had two wins really because, as I said further up, PayPal gave me thae full conversion money back of $39. 71c.

The  lady said that Digital River Ireland wouldn't be charging me in US dollars again, but we'll see. I think it is my Tune-up that is due on Feb 2nd but will be taken out today, or tomorrow actually because being Australia Day it's public holiday so I'll see tomorrow. Hope she's right. The refund came from DRI.

They need to take the Anti Tracker away from my account now unless it's already gone as I haven't looked. I hadn't downloaded it. I had an email to say 'Sorry you are leaving us' but I'm not going anywhere. Now I'l have emails trying to bring me back, like happened once before. Glad tis is sorted out but if I'm charged in US dollars again, I'll be back wanting to know why.

I haven't tried that number you gave me yet, but I don't see what they can tell me about why I was charged in US dollars instead of Aus dollars, when they never have before. I've done messages with PayPal  and they say it was requested by Digital River Ireland to have US dollars. Neither I nor PayPal can get in touch with DRI as I've emailed them and resent it three or four times and it just comes back saying their email box is full and to try again or contact them directly whatever that means. Phone call perhaps. The person I was messaging at PayPal said she'd tried phoning them and the call was cut off for some reason. Next time messaging was with someone else but they were able to read my  past messages with the other person. They gave me a phone number, I don't know if it's the same one that the other person used, but it's not sett out like a proper phone number and has three noughts on the end. I haven't tried it.
Onr explanation PayPal has given me for the charge in US dollars is that sometimes it's charged by bank rate which means it goes in Aus dollars but sometimes it goes at PayPal rate which makes it go in US dollars. They think it might have been a network error but they say it was requested in US dollars. They checked out the product I bought from AVG in June which was done in Aus dollars as it always is, and that was bank rate apparently. PayPal have given me the conversion money back putting it into my PayPal account for me to transfer to my bank account which i have. It aquaited to $29.71c.

That was very good of them, now it's just for AVG to refund my $52. 54c which I've clicked to fo three or four times now. Why haven't I got it? I'm just worried incase DRI charge me in US dollars again when another of my subscriptions comes up for renewal on 26th Jan I think and three or four more throughout the year. Why can't you get in touch with DRI seeing as how it's you  who are using them for our payments? See if you have any better luck at contacting them. PayPal say they will help me if it happens again. What are the AVG team  going to say about  the US payment if I ring them. Are they going to be able to sort it out and get in touch with DRI?  I'm awaiting my refund.

I don't see how that phone call is going to help me. You can't answer me the simple question of why my Anti Tracker (which I haven't downloaded and I've cancelled the subscription) was charged in US dollars instead of Aus dollars. I've used the Digital River Ireland before ( about last June) and it was charged in Aus dollars then. I'll try it and see what they say.

You don't mention why I haven't got my refund yet? It's said if I've paid by PayPal I should have had it within seven days and the Christmas holidays are out of the way now, so what's happening? I can't get in touch with PayPal, they say you can email but there is nowhere on their site that shows their email address. The other  options are jlust sending you round in circles. I've gone through the messenger but you have to wait for a reply which I won't hold my breath about. They are the ones who sent the payment in US dollars. It's the only one in my account list that has it.

Unless I download that Anti Tracker, it will be just sat there for 2yrs doing nothing. I got a refund for it a few years ago when I changed my mind about it as my computer lady told me it slows your computer down. I got the refund without any trouble then. And why does AVG tell  me I have a tracking cookie when it tells me on the interface that I'm 'fully protected?   There is hacker protection on there so why do we even need an Anti Tracker?

I'm out of pocket at the moment to the tune of $82.25c. I'd be happy to just get the $52. 54 back. I'm just worried incase I'm going to be charged in US dollars for all my other subscriptions when they come up for renewal in a few months, which shouldn't happen. You can't even tell me that.

I have some mistakes in my reply above but there is no Edit to correct them. Sorry, I do know about them. Perhaps you should consider having an Edit for  mistakes.

Thank you.

I have contacted Digital River Ireland by their email asking them why my product ie: AVG Anti Tracker was charged in US dollars when I'm living in Perth, WA. I did it before Christmas and we are through the holidays now but they haven't replied. I tried PayPal as it was they who sent the money from my account which I use this way lots of times for buying online. One of their info parts said it was best to contact the seller first which I've done, but no reply as I said. The Anti Tracker was at a discount of $52. 54, but I was charged conversion fees of over $30 showing up in my online banking as $82. 25. I've contacted my bank also and they say it's nothing to do with them and that it should be AVG that I deal with.

What's worrying me is that I have a subscription coming up for renewal this month, Driver Updates I think, the others aren't due until mid year from June etc, but am I going to be charged in US dollars again for all of them? This makes any discounts ridiculous even if it does end up cheaper than the product. It's difficult to contact PayPal through all their methods, you can't seem to just do an email you have to go round all the ways they show you but nothing is good enough to explain; In my accout at PayPal it only shows the Anti Tracker in the list as being charged in US dollars. An AV product I bought last June id in Aus dolars as they usually have abeen until this one, usisng Digital River Ireland. I wonder if anyone else not living in US has been charged in US dollars and been charged a conversion fee?  It would be no good for me to stop the subscriptions so I don't get anymore auto payments because when they come due, I'd have to pay again and are they going to use US dollars.

AVG is offering me the Ultra pack or something and I've already got all those, only one of which is due this month. I'm not paying another $200 and odd dolars for two years or over a $100 dollars for a year as they won't be finished. They are offering me 3mths free for the Anti Tracker too when the first 2yrs one runs out. As I say, I haven't even downloaded this one yet. Why haven't I received my refund of at least the  $52.54, as I don't know if I can get the conversion fee back. AVG must know why I was charged in US dollars when I never have before? I want some answers from someone.

I have just purchased the Anti Tracker, but I've clicked to Get a Refund because although the River Ireland have only charged me the discount price of $52.54, using my PayPal account by auto payment which I'm registered for, for some reason that I can gather, they've done it in US dollars which meant that they charged me a conversion fee.

In my online banking I had been charged $82. 25 altogether, more than $30 Aussie dollars over the price!  I have never had to pay conversion fees before for my subscriptions which I have three or four of. This is the only explanation I can find in my receipt. Why was it charged in US dollars? This means you'd be paying extra all the time making the discounts useless!

I don't know if it's my bank I'm supposed to contact about this or is it PayPal or AVG or who? I clicked to cancel this subscription yesterday, Dec 22nd (I haven't installed it yet)  because of this exorbitant extra price!  I would have expected to have had an email today to acknowledge my request for a refund but nothing is there, so I don't know if it's been seen or not.

They said if you've paid by PayPal you'd get your refund within seven days, but there'll be an allowance for Christmas holidays. Can you tell me if I'm contacting the right people or if not should it be my bank? When I get a refund will I get the conversion fee back so I get $82.25? Can you answer these questions because I'll have to wait until after the holidays to contact my bank.

We're glad to know that, Jackie. Thank you for updating the status.
If you're charged in USD again, then you can reach our billing team to further investigate on this. Have a great day. Stay safe!

What about the refund? Unless I download that Anti Tracker it is useless to me over the next two years. I have been 'talking' by messages with PayPal and they say that Digital River Ireland requested the payment in US dollars. They've never done this before. I bought something last June through them and it was done in Aus dollars as usual. Your customers aren't going to be very pleased who don't live in US if they are going to be charged in US dollars. They'll be leaving in droves!
