Why do I need to bring down the fire wall in order to allow CleanMyMac to be able to load.
Why does the AVG software think this app is contaminated.
I’m not going to action your suggestions until I understand more about what is going on.

Did you get any error message from AVG when you access CleanMyMac?
If so, please provide us the screenshot of the error message to investigate further.

We will help you to resolve it. Please follow the steps and check the status.
1. Disable the File shield.
2. Mount Clean My Mac dmg file (download the dmg file in case the user already deleted it)
3. Set up the exception (both paths)
4. Unmount the Clean My Mac dmg file
5. Drag and drop Clean My Mac app from the Application folder to the Trash and empty it.
6. Enable the File shield
7. Restart the machine
8. Download the new Clean My Mac dmg file and mount it.
9. Install the Clean My Mac app - drag and drop to the Application folder.

AVG seems to have a dispute with MacPaw and blocks the use of CleanMyMac software. Does anyone know why because the information from AVG is a complete silence.

Paul, we actually meant as File Shield and not Firewall.
As per guidelines, the detected threat was verified and confirmed as legitimate detection.
However, if user wish to use it, we suggested the earlier work around which would stop showing threat detection from AVG for CleanMyMac.
