Boot-Time Scan installation fails

  1. I've been using AVG Anti-Virus Free for years, with good results. 
  2. Today, the latest version offers a Boot-Time Scan option, which it said was "Not installed".  So I clicked the icon, and an installation began.  The progress bar got to 90%, then froze.  After several minutes, I saw a giant red error message: "Sorry.  AVG ran into a problem."  The only option available was to exit the dialogue. 
  3. Tried again after a couple of hours; same result. 
  4. Tried getting help from the AVG Support page, but it balks at something in my query ("Boot-Time Scan instal fails"), saying "Please type at least three alphanumeric characters" - maybe it's tripping up over its own hyphen ("-")? ;-)

Please share the screenshot of the error message you receive when you try to install "Boot Time Scan".

Run AVG repair avgclick.me/RepairAVG from your control panel and check if that fix the issue.
