You might have not logged in to AVG with AVG MyAccount email address and password under which the product is registered. Please refer the steps provided in the link below on how to activate AVG Ultimate:

My Mom bought me the 2 year Full Version. I had to bring my PC into Geek Squad for a certain reason. When I got my PC back I had to re-download AVG, AVG is telling me I need to re-buy the full version even though I re-entered the code.
