Andy, Try removing AVG by downloading & using the 32 or 64bit 2015 Remover (http://www.avg.com/ww-en/utilities) [Scroll Down], whichever suits your system. If you're not sure about 32 or 64 bit on your system have a look @ this link (http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/827218).

Please Help:
Unsure of what the actual issue is, but - My AVG stopped working on my desktop computer (not the one I am currently on). I received a security alert from windows telling me that there was a problem with my antivirus and firewall, and discovered that it was turned off.
Unsure of what the actual issue is, but - My AVG stopped working on my desktop computer (not the one I am currently on). I received a security alert from windows telling me that there was a problem with my antivirus and firewall, and discovered that it was turned off.
I opened AVG and it showed orange in all the windows, and said that there were 'no active components'. I tried restarting the machine but now the AVG icon was dead, clicking it told me that the app was no longer active and did I want to delete it.
So far nothing I have tried has persuaded it to work. I tried using the original product disk to scan for viruses, it found something - 'Win32/Heri Virus' in iTunes and apple software also in Google Chrome. It also found a corrupted file in Windows Security database. I followed the recommended steps and it told me it had been 'healed', though nothing seems to have changed and AVG is still inactive.
The program will not uninstall nor change, when I try to do this it doesn't do anything I would expect with the uninstallation process. I tried running the installation disk, but it still recognises that there is a newer version already on my machine and does nothing either.
Iv'e had no success with the AVG Support Chat which is continually 'Loading' though getting nowhere...
