Bsod: driver_overran_stack_buffer

Hello Peter.
Thank you for reporting it here. We regret the inconvenience.
Do you have Panda security or another antivirus software already installed when attempted installation of AVG?

If you do, please remove conflicting software first and then try installing AVG. It is not recommended to have more than one antivirus product simultaneously.

If there is no conflicting software, make sure latest Microsoft updates are installed and drivers are up to date. If the issue persists, let us know which version of Windows OS is installed on your PC.

After I downloaded the AVG Antivirus Free program, I open the exe file to install the program. Everything went well and continues, only the last few seconds of the installation give an error message and this is a big one… I receive a blue screen (BSOD) which mentiones DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER. So I am totally stuck and can't do a thing and need to restart the computer in safe mode to unistall the program. When I try to install AVG again, the same thing happens. What could cause this problem? When I download and install another virus program (PANDA) I don't receive any error messages and everything is installed smoothly.

Hi Avinash,

No I first had Mcaffee and uninstalled that program. Then I tried to install AVG and the issue happened. After this I needed to look for another virusscanner, so I tried Panda and that was installed succesfully. So when I tried to install AVG, there was no other virusprogram installed.

I do have all the latest Windows updates installed. Drivers I am not sure about, is this also updated through windows update? If so, then yes. I use Windows 10.

KR, Peter
