Hi Connor,
We're glad to look into this & help you.
Please let us know the version of AVG that is installed on your computer (Open AVG - Menu - About).
Meanwhile, please try repairing AVG program once to check if it helps.
Hi, I don't need the issue fixed immediately, I'd just appreciate it escalated as a bug so it's fixed in a future patch. So I don't need a free remote technician at this stage unless that step is required for bug escalation (although it shouldn't).
Also, I'd like to be more precise about a previous note: it seems the tray icon goes away after opening the app ONLY AFTER navigating to Settings > Notifications.
In AVG AntiVirus Free, I disabled "Show AVG tray icon" at "Settings > General > Notifications", but it still shows up in the tray when I restart or turn on my PC.
I'm using Windows 11 (only up to Windows 10 was in available in the dropdown menu).
Hello Connor,

Hi,
As requested, here is the version info:
Virus definitions are up to date
Release date was January 10, 2022 11:25 AM
(ver. 220110-4)
Your application is up to date
Release date was December 9, 2021 7:04 AM
(ver. 21.11.3215- build 21.11.6809.439)
Both are set on Automatic update. So the issue occurred despite everything being up-to-date.
As for the link you sent regarding repairing AVG, it just goes to a page that says "We'll be right back! Sorry, we're currently hard at work improving our Support Center. Please check back with us a bit later."
Is there another place I can find out how to repair AVG?
Connor

Hi, as requested, a screenshot is attached showing the tray icon appeared after turning on / restarting the PC although "Show AVG tray icon" is disabled, and after having tried repairing AVG.
In case it helps with debugging, I'd also like to note that the tray icon does go away, but only after I fully open the app, rather than before the app is fully opened (as should have been the case, and how it used to work before I upgraded to Windows 11).
Thank you for writing back to us, Connor.
If possible, could you please share us the screenshot of AVG tray icon appearing in order to check and help you further?
