Hi Sean,
We'll work together to get this sorted out. We suggest you to add the steam installation folder to the exception list of AVG (open AVG Internet Security> Menu > Settings > General > Exception > add file path). Then try to download/update the games and see if AVG blocks it. Also let us know the status of the issue.
Hello AVG,
Since your website is awful along with your forums, I have no other way to submit a bug report to you other than on here. The latest version of AVG 18.5.3059 is conflicting with the steam client download and update process. While AVG protection is enabled, it causes the steam client to register disk corruption errors and stop the current download/update of games as AVG temporarily blocks writes to the disk by the steam client. You need to address this issue as the AVG service is not operating as intended and shouldn't be delaying process writes to storage. On a personal note, I think it's pretty despicable that within the last month you have removed the option to disable offer notifications within the PAID AVG application itself. I already purchased licenses for AVG but your company still can't be bothered to stop nagware offers anymore. Once my licenses expire for AVG I will be switching everything away from this company due to both your poor update handling with Windows 10 and questionable business practices when it comes to removing options to stop nagware within PAID AVG.
Hi Vishnu,
Whitelisting the installation directory does resolve the issue. Please pass this information onto the appropriate team as I probably don't need to explain how dangerous it is to whitelist a known folder completely from antivirus scanning. I'm hoping a fix can be issued asap.
