Micheline,

Can I just move the AVG antivirus to the trash bin if it didn't install completely? It wasn't installed properly as I didn't double click but just clicked on it. Now it's just there in Finder useless, as I can't even open it. I've asked for help to remove it and was sent instructions by email. I was no longer sent any more emails. The instructions were that I should go to Open Folder/Library/Application Support/ AVGAntivirus/ components/uninstall and run the com.avg.uninstall.app. I get as far as "components" as there is no "components", and after that all there is is autouninstall; config; run; submit data; update data; and vps9. If there are no AVG components, then it means that it's not installed I don't think right?
The best thing for me right now is to remove it completely from my system with your help and at a later date perhaps re-install it. I want to find out more about it before I decide to re-install it. Thank you for any help.
Hello Micheline,
Move every AVG folder to the trash bin and check for the issue again.
Let us know the status of the issue.
Micheline, our technician Alok Kumar has sent an email with further troubleshooting steps. Did you follow those steps?
Micheline, I have sent you an email regarding the issue. Please check for the email.
I've dragged everything to the trash bin. The AVG icon asked me for a password. I put in my password and then clicked on uninstall, but the uninstall was a bit greyed out so not sure about this. It did remove it from Finder Applications. Then I scoured everywhere to see if I could find traces of it. I didn't see anything anywhere except in Finder, Utilities, and then in System Information going down the left side-bar to Software scrolling down to Logs I found one in there, but was able to drag it to the trash bin. Above Logs in Installations I found 2 AVG Antivirus and 1 AVG Hub. There are no functions to delete them, no folders to click on to delete them, or anything. I tried to drag them to the trash bin but they drag everything else with them. I did finally manage to drag them to the trash bin and empty the bin, but they are still there. Can you please delete these from my system. You can install remotely. Why can you not remove remotely as well? I was thinking of re-installing it after but this is very discouraging.
Hi Avinash,
I've already done what Alok asked me to do before many times. After I've typed all that and click on "return" key, all I get is a repeat of the whole thing I've typed.
In any case, I can't uninstall it when it's been thrown in the trash. Just to see, I did type the command again in Terminal and the same thing happened. Everything is gone except those 3 AVG files that are in my Utilities folder under Installations which I can't delete or drag to trash. I don't understand that. Why am I not able to delete these? Very strange. There are no functions to delete them. I've managed to drag them one at a time into trash and empty the bin but even at that, they were still in the folder.
So the only thing left is to get someone to rebuild my Mac from scratch and look for another antivirus, but first I will investigate with care to make sure I can uninstall it.
I appreciate you're trying to help me, but I don't want to re-install it. I want it completely out of my system.
Thank you for any help.
