Sorry for the trouble. Mostly this out of date issue will occur only when the update files gets corrupted and we need to reinstall AVG Internet Security completely to resolve it.
Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Uninstall -> remove AVG Internet Security and restart your device. Refer this article: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Internet-Security-or-Premium-Security to reinstall your AVG Internet Security and activate it using your license number you received at the time of purchase.
The latest version is 17.9.3040. We are here if you need further help.
when i try to uninstall, it comes up with this problem

i am on AVG internet security and have been getting a problem over the last couple of days
virus definitions
last one release date is 08/01/2018 at 14:11:49 and everytime i go to update, it fails
on the program, it tells me the current version is build 17.3.9.3761.278 but a new version is available version 17.9.2322 (which seems older as the numbers are less.
when i try to uninstall, it comes up with this problem
