Cannot add new protected folders for ransomware protection?

Hi Sreenu, thanks for offer. I just reinstalled Windows and decided to try avast, which mirrors the design of AVG… Avast offer a free ransomware option and indicates, when follow the stepts I mentioned in the above post, that it will not protect 'removable drives' attached to a computer or on a network/rhouter and I assume AVG would have the same restriction. I rarely keep personal files on a computer and prefer to use removable drives as have many experience of computer ceasing to work or broken by accidents. Shame ransomware tools does not cover removable drives

Hello Terence,

We are glad to help you.
Please confirm under "which files and folders does Ransomware Protection secure"?
When you click on add folder with the USB or external drive connected, does the browse option doesn't show the drive on the list?

Thank you and please keep us informed.

I would like to add a new protected folder that is located on an external usb thumb drive or on a network drive, but every time I try to add a folder in such locations they do not get added to protected folders. Is this possible, as I am sure many save files to external and network locations, so far the only folders added are on the C drive

Have also just discovered that Windows 10 has it's own anti-ransomware 'Controlled Folder Access' built in.
