Thank you for your reply Bongani. I said that I had configured Outpost Security Suite without its anti-virus so it is the same as Outpost Firewall. The Outpost anti-virus component is not installed so there would not be a conflict between 2 anti-viruses. I am simply trying to use the lifetime licence I have for Outpost Security Suite without using the Outpost anti-virus. Unfortunately AVG Anti-Virus installer has not been programmed to check if anti-virus is not configured in Outpost Security Suite.
Chris, installing two or more anti-viruses, it only reduces your pc peformance and there are no benefits of using more anti-virus. So I think you sould make up your mind about the product you are willing to utilize on your pc.
I use Outpost Security Suite WITHOUT Anti-Malware installed. AVG Anti-virus however refuses to install unless Outpost is first uninstalled, EVEN WHEN Outpost anti-malware is not in use, i.e. anti-malware not selected when Outpost was installed.
This is absolutely unneccessary and very unhelpful to the user. A user of Outpost knows what he/she is doing and if he/she wants to use AVG Anti-virus with Outpost, AVG should not prevent that. Outpost does not refuse to install when AVG Anti-virus is already installed and so defeats the AVG developers' good but mistaken intentions. When AVG Anti-virus and Outpost Security Suite are working together, they work beautifully and without any compatibility problems.
This post is a plea to the AVG developers to remove this unhelpful obstruction to using AVG Anti-virus.
Thank you for the reply Zbynek. That is useful information. Both Outpost Firewall and Security Suite do seem to adjust for incompatibilties providing that the installer confirms the existence of AVG on the system. As far as I can tell, the two then work well together. There is no way to avoid having to install AVG THEN Outpost in strict order. Outpost must first be uninstalled, after saving the config.
