Cannot install AVG internet security

I would like to inform you that your AVG Internet Security had already expired on 2012.9.28. Could you tell me if your AVG Internet Security is registered under a different email address?

I obtained the AVG internet security program through my ISP in 2011 while still on windows 8. I upgraded to windows 10 when it was released, and the program ran without any problems. Since December I keep getting a warning that the software is out of date and needs to update. I have tried non stop to update, but to no avail. After trying to update and going back to confirm the update has taken effect it reverts back to the notification that a new version is available. The current version is 17.8.3036 (build 17.8.3705.249). The new version available for update is 17.9.2322 since 21 Dec 2017. I also tried to uninstall the program through PROGRAM AND FEATURES - Uninstall. When that didn't work I tried the avg_remover.exe tool which did not recognised that the product is installed but I ran the tool anyway. Still no satisfaction!
