OK AVG have reached a new low in my mind.
I had the AVG Cleaner installed, removed it, and now I cannot remove the AVG Apps Data Sync account, and as a result, I cannot reset the phone (which I need to do for other reasons).
AVG software has rendered a perfectly useable phone completely bricked if this can't be solved.

I have solved it. I decided to reinstall AVG Cleaner, to see if that would help - but it was already installed.
I think Google Play reinstalled it after I uninstalled it. I'm not sure how or why. Possibly because I unlinked the Google Account before uninstalling AVG, and then had to re-link it again. So Google Play thought it should still be there.
Anyway, with the Google Account linked, I uninstalled it again, and the Apps Data Synch Account is now gone. That would make Google Play the culprit, and not AVG. My apologies.
Phone now resets.
