Hello Paul,
I am sorry to hear this. We are getting complaints regarding the threat detection of "notepad.exe". This seems like a false positive.
If you are facing the same issue then please check whether you are using the latest 2017 version.
The issue seem to occur on the 2016 version and we are performing force migration from 2016 to 2017 version as we are planning to make 2017 version as a standard one.
If you are using the 2016 version then please remove it using the removal tools as mentioned in this article: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product
Note: Please do not remove other products of AVG, remove only AVG Antivirus or Internet Security that is installed on your PC.
Hi. I've got the same Trojan threat twice on my laptop this morning after a windows10 update overnight. The laptop also refuses to connect to the internet (possibly as a precautionary measure).
I have the following:-
Trojan horse FakeAV.AUQD
In the file c:/Windows\System32\notepad.exe
any ideas?
I see that you have purchased the license for AVG Internet Security, To download the latest version please use this link: http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/Antivirus_Free_1817.exe . You will get free version installed, open the AVG Antivirus free dashboard and click on "Menu–>About–>Subscriptions"
You will have option as "enter license", click on it and enter the license to activate your subscription.
If the same threat popup appears, do let us know.
