Cannot schedule scans

Solved my own problem.

To get AVG to accept my schedule, I first had to go to Control Panel | User Accounts | Change User Account Control Settings which was set to Default - Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer. I lowered that setting to Never notifty. I went back to AVG and scheduled my scans. I was able to do it without the error message. I restarted the computer, re-checked the scheduled scan which had been saved as I wanted it, and then went back to the User Account Control Settings where I re-set the level to what it had been at first (see above). I said, OK, restarted the computer and checked to be sure that both my User Account Control Setting and my scheduled scan in AVG Free were all set the way I wanted them to be. They were, and all is now fine. One caveat. I also wanted the computer to be shut down after the scheduled scan, and when I tried to do that after I re-set things, I got the same error message. I had to go through the same process as above to get my computer to accept the shut-down setting, but now everything works!

Hi Mike,

In this case you could just run AVG program as Admin(right click).

I am happy to see that your issue is resolved.

Thanks for posting back.

I just installed the free version of the 2014 program on a Windows 7 computer.  When I go to Options|Advanced Settings|Schedules and try to program a scheduled scan for every day at 12:31 am, I recieve this error message:
An error occurred when saving the configuration. The requested operation requires elevation."

Any idea what this means and how I schedule a scan?
