Hi Carol,
We're glad to look into this & help you.
Initially, we need to identify the component that is causing the issue.
Please disable firewall & check if both the computers are able to communicate with each other.
To do so : Open AVG Internet Security - Menu - Settings - Basic protection - Enhanced firewall - click on toggle bar beside it.
i have a laptop and a PC and until last week, both computers were quite happily able to access folders through windows explorer. This has suddenly stopped working with either permission not allowed or cannot find pc on the network… I have checked all the windows settings and they are ok. When I disable AVG on both, they both connect to each other. But I enable AVG again , and one can still connect and the suddenly it cannot anymore. I have no idea what settings are controlling this. I have tried adding both computers to firewall application rules through windows explorer, but that makes not difference. Can anyone give me some ideas as to how to solve this please?
We're sorry to know that, Carol.

You can't say AVG is blocking your network devices. Sometimes some network and router settings also hide devices on our network. I faced this problem when I did enable the ap isolation feature on my wifi router.
All the devices stop talking to each other and separate each other on the network. even if I can't print online.
You should try to disable ap isolation (url removed) of the router and then check if it is working or not.
