Hi, is there a solution for this problem?
I just updated my AVG antivirus then ran it, but then my computer crashed…then I am unable to boot window as got the avgRvrt.sys error.
Oh damn this update…AVG please help.
Just updated AVG after several months just to get rid of annoying pop up and it has made Windows non bootable.
Ran windows start up repair and found root cause to be avgrvrt.sys file. Windows start up repair said it could fix it. But w/o any other option ( since i dont have disk) ran repair again and computer started. Have uninstalled avg …it had version 18.4.3056.
So, not sure if this bug has been corrected. Pls let me know, but i see latest is 18.8.3071 last updated Nov 19.2018.

I have used AVG Rescue Program on USB, but I cannot delete or rename some avg files, they are marked in red. Any help? How I can fix this problem without windows repair?

Did you try to boot into safe mode with networking on your computer?

Once you reboot your computer in safe mode, please uninstall AVG and check if you are able to boot into your computer from normal mode.

Thanks a lot for your answer. That's actually the first thing I tried to do. Unfortunately it doen't work. The same error appears again.
I know the recommended solution would be to use a Windows DVD, but I don't have one right now, and I really need to access some documents in my laptop.
Eric, could you share a screenshot/picture (you can take a picture of the error using the mobile phone) of the files/error message (error: avgRvrt.sys) to assist you further?

This is not the expected behavior with AVG. We didn't have a bug with the previous version preventing from windows start up.
Please install the latest version of AVG Internet Security and it will not cause you any issue with startup.
