Cannot update AVG after upgrading to Win 10

Hello Lloyd,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
We request you to try using the AVG remover tool to remove the traces of AVG program.
1) To download AVG remover tool, please click on this link: http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
2) Run the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions.
3) Restart your PC when the restart option is displayed on the remover tool screen.
NOTE: Once you have logged into your PC after the restart, please go to C: drive and delete the "AVG REMOVER" folder manually.

We also request you to go to C:\ drive and then for Program files and check whether any AVG folder is present, if it is there, please delete it manually and restart your PC.
Please feel free to contact us if you need any assistance.

When I upgraded to Win10 from Win7, my copy of AVG got corrupted, or perhaps it was the Registry entry.  Now, whenever I restart my laptop, I get a message that I need to reinstall AVG.  However, when I click the REINSTALL button, nothing happens.  My computer does not know AVG is installed, so I cannot uninstall the program.

I cannot do a new install because I have now installed Kaspersky Total Security and AVG gives me a message that I must uninstall that program before it will install.  I am completely unwilling to uninstall Kaspersky.

Can you give me instructions for manually uninstalling AVG?  I saw instructions for downloading a 64-bit remover, but got an error when trying to do so.  I am not a newbie or neophyte user.  I have over 45 years IT experience and am quite comfortable working with the Registry.  I also have a rather complete set of utilities that will let me find and delete whatever directories/folders you specify if you want me to do this manually.

Thanks.
