I tried to get a screenshot but it didn't work, probably because I have XP. Anyway, it's pretty simple and I can describe it: the main interface shows that I need an update of virus definitions. I then clicked on the 'fix now' button, and received an error message saying 'update failed'. Then, I tried to download the newest definitions from the AVG website, to do it manually, but these files are no longer there. Please assist. Thanks.

I have AVG free on XP, which still works fine, but since August 2018 I have not been able to update my virus definitions from either the program directly or by downloading the update file manually. Please assist. Thanks.

I had the free AVG downloaded thhe purcchased one THEN FIRST I UNINSTALLED THE FREE AVG made sure all the folders were gone with a search THEN used the installer and all was well, (and still is)

Mike, I guess you have the old version of AVG AntiVirus program installed on your PC.

We have stopped providing offline virus definitions with the latest version of AVG AntiVirus program.

Please check the AVG program version that is running on your PC, to assist you further.

AVG Internet Security > Menu > About - to check the program version.

Note: The latest AVG Antivirus Program version is 18.7
