Cannot update on two PCs and there is no URL setting

Alan, could you please share a screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/createascreenshot ) of the URL you are mentioning? Thank you.

I made some progress.  On one problem PC, I decided to run the installer and add all options.  Normally, I turn off all options during installation - I just want anti-virus, no email scan, no web protection, etc.  These PCs do not need it.  After I installed all options, then update works.  But now Link Scanner says an update is required.  I try to update several times, but it still does not fix it.  When I click Fix Now, it is not fixed, but I see an update successful message from the system tray.

Link scanner data base outdated, but update does not help.

Hi

Can you please put back the ability to specify a URL for the update server? The upgrade from 2013 to 2016 worked fine, but now I have loads machines that are trying to update from the AVG online servers. We block all workstations from accessing the AVG online update servers as we do not have the bandwidth for 500+ machines to update whenever the updates are pushed out. If we had that capacity the admin console would be almost pointless. Now that the 2016 Admin Console does not have the option to change and push out the Local AVG update URL to clients, I have these machines flashing red.

Please fix this. The admin console is now making my work more, rather than less.

The "Update from drive" is not an option because then what is the point of the update server and admin console?

Thank you for choosing AVG solutions. Feel free to get back to us for any further assistance.

Thank you.

I am using AVG 2015 paid version - I cannot update on two PCs - I get "A bin file is missing" error on both PCs.  If I manually download and install updates, it works.  I noticed on the two PCs that cannot update, there is no URL setting in Options | Advanced Settings | Update.  On a PC with no problem, I can see the URL settings.

Any ideas?

Hi, I'm facing the same problem with AVG 2015 and then AVG 2016…

As I mentioned in my previous post: "I try to update several times, but it still does not fix it."  This problem is about automatic updates.  I click update now, but the link scanner is not updated.  So this seems to be another bug.

Hi Alan, sorry for the trouble. Open AVG user interface>options>advanced settings>In the left pane navigate to the Update option and expand it by clicking the [+]button>Click Manage, and then click Delete temporary update files>Click Yes when prompted>Click OK to save the changes and return to the main AVG window>Now try to update AVG.

In case this does not solve the issue then reinstall AVG by uninstalling AVG first with AVG Remover Tool. Please follow the steps as mentioned at http://avgread.me/1J056ja

If you are not sure whether you are using 32 or 64 bit system then click this link which will auto detect your system http://bit.ly/1zd0y4S. Let us know in case of any issue. Thanks.
