Hello Willy,
It seems that there are some issues with the AVG update server.
Let us work together and fix the issue.
May I know the version of AVG Antivirus installed on your Windows 7 PC?
To check the version, open AVG Antivirus, click on "Menu" and "About".
Earlier, yes, AVG Free on my Windows 10 PC is also affected by this error message. Same pattern too: The update seems to begin normally, but once it reaches "Downloading file:uat.vpx", it stops and says "Invalid file signature, setup will now terminate". As I mentioned before, I've tried Repairing AVG and rebooting, and even checked for Windows Updates, but the issue still persists.
Now, I've gotten a bit too hasty, and I am currently reinstalling AVG to see if that fixes the issue. If the problem still pops up, even after re-installation, I'll inform you.
Thank you for updating the status. Please uninstall AVG using AVG Clear tool mentioned in this article. After the restart, reinstall AVG Antivirus free to check the status.
Fixed mine by doing this

Virus definitions update crashed this morning concerning invalid file signature error on file K1584286. This appears to be an installation bug, please advise.
Problem solved by first doing a Windows 7 Professional update, re-booting then doing an AVG software update, re-booting and doing a virus definitions update. It was clearly an incompatibilitty between Windows and AVG software versions. Thanks for your suggestion regarding Windows update!

Aye! Will do, Bhuvaneswari.
Hello AVG!! I just checked my AVG Installation on Windows 7 Home 32-bit PC because I was getting suspicious as to why the dashboard displayed to me that the most recent updates were "two days ago". I tried running a manual update just now, and just like Jeff and Niels, AVG is also showing an error, specifically "Invalid File Signature, setup will now terminate". On a closer look, the update process seems to proceed fine until it says "Downloading file uat.vpx". Then the update process stops with the error "Invalid file signature".
I've tried repairing AVG and restarting my PC. The error still persists. I've already checked, downloaded, and installed the recent Windows Updates, rebooted, and the error still persists. What do I do?
This problem doesn't seem to be limited to Windows 7 either. I also checked my AVG Installation on my Windows 10 64 bit PC. That installation is fairly new, probably not even a week old. Again, the dashboard says "Virus Definition: 2 days ago". I tried manually running an update, but again I received the same error: "Invalid File Signature", and again, if I look at the update process closely, it says "Downloading file uat.vpx" before the update process stops.
I've tried repairing AVG and rebooting my PC afterwards, the error still persists. I've checked pending Windows Updates. There were none, and my PC was updated.
What's going on, AVG? Can you help us?
I noticed the streaming updates still do work, and it's "Connection established", but the virus definitions updates though. I'm just worried.
What do you think, AVG? How can this matter be resolved?
as i understan d ihave the same problem Jeff harris have . I have problem to send a screenshot but i need help to get AVG updated
