1. Allow Windows File and Printer sharing
2. Allow remote desktop connections to this computer

My Canon Scanner stopped working - It prints but wont scan - Canon support says after reinstalling the software If the issue remains after installing this software, kindly check your firewall and antivirus settings since sometimes they do block the communication between a computer and printer when scanning."

Not a problem, David. Let us work towards fixing the issue.
If you suspect that AVG is causing the issue, you can disable each component in AVG Internet Security to check.
However, AVG includes File shield, Web Shield, Email Shield, Ransomware protection, Phishing net & Fake website shield.
To disable : Open AVG program - Click on each tile - Click on the toggle bar above each shield (one at a time) & check if it allows you to scan.
If issue persists, re-enable the shield & proceed to disable other shields to identify the component that causes the issue.
