Please clarify whether disabling AVG Internet Security fixes the issue. If so, please disable each AVG component individually as mentioned in this article to identify the component that is causing the issue & let us know.
If not, let us know the exact AVG program (name) that you've turned off to fix the issue.

I can no longer access the Internet on any hotel wi-fi after I updated my subscription to AVG. If I turn off AVG, the Internet works fine.
