Can't get the licence number

I have bought Antivirus 2015, the 3pc two year package. It comes with a licence code on the packaging and I understand Ithat  have to imput this on the AVG website to get another code to activate the antivirus. Every time I try to imput this, it tells me that the code has expired. I have only just bought it. Could you please tell me how to sort this out?
