Thank you.

I can't install AVG AntiVirus. The installer package claims that Avast Internet Security is already running, but it's not. I've done a thorough search of all files, including invisible files and and folders for anything with AVG or Avast in the name, and there is nothing.

So, how can I install this if won't recognize that nothing else from Avast is installed?

AVG AntiVirus Error Message
I've already done a complete search for any files with the word 'avast' in their name, both visible and invisible, and there aren't any. So this error message tells me nothing. If there arre no files, there, then it couldn't possible be installed on my system, so that's not the problem.

I need a better solution than to go looking for things that I know aren't there.

As we've mentioned in our previous post, please reach out to the Avast team & get any/all traces of Avast removed from your Mac.
After making sure that all traces of Avast have been removed, please try installing AVG Antivirus.
Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.

Once again, I've already state there are no files from Avast on my system. If you can figure out how a file could be there that doesn't show up in a search, let me know. But there is no way to do that.

Thank you for sharing the screenshot, Fox.

Upon checking the screenshot, we can see that there may have been some traces of Avast leftover after the uninstallation.
In this case, we'd request you to contact the Avast support team directly & get their help to remove any/all leftover traces of Avast from your Mac. Please visit this link to reach the Avast community forum.
After making sure that all traces of Avast have been removed, please try installing AVG Antivirus.
Thank you for understanding in advance!

Please accept our sincere apologies, Fox.

We asked you to contact Avast support team because they will provide a designated Remover tool that will help you remove all traces (visible & invisible) of Avast from your Mac. If there weren't any traces of Avast present in your Mac, you won't be receiving the "Incompatible software detected" error message.
Let us know if you're still unable to install AVG Antivirus after using the Avast Clear tool.
