Download & use the McAfee total removal tool (http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp). Also with Win 10 Windows Defender is classified as an AntiVirus prog… & will be disabled during the AVG install process.

It's a brand new laptop running win 10.
Mcafee is preinstalled, but hasn't been configured yet.

We would request you to run AVG remover tool to completely remove AVG and then re install it.
Please click this link http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe to download and "Run" the AVG Remover tool.
1. Please select the AVG products which are shown in the remover tool window and then start removal process.
2. After the remover tool process is successfully finished, restart your computer.
3. After the restart, manually delete the AVG Remover folder in the C drive of My computer.

I wasn't trying to get answers any faster at all. I was simply trying to answer your question re. any 3rd. party AV software.
However I have run the remover sw. you pointed out, but it doesn't change the result. Still ending with the message Error 0xc0070643. Describtio Event Exec_finished.
